Known to the people of Ardwen as King Gwenyk the Good, or simply Good King Gwenyk. Revered almost to a godly status, the king has always been known to be just, wise, and benevolent to his subjects.
In the past decade, Gwenyk has grown noticeably old and infirm, though the inhabitants of Ardwen choose not to openly acknowledge this unpleasant fact. And in recent years, he has shown signs of persistent melancholy and has chosen to shelter himself away from the public more and more. Some say the king is depressed because his only son, Prince Graid, left on a quest over a decade ago and has not returned. Others say that King Gwenyk himself failed at a great quest some thirty years ago and was cursed in the process. Still others whisper that the King knows of some impending doom about to befall his beloved Ardwen and feels powerless to avert it.
