A shanty-town on the mouth of the Chiltern River just at the point where it empties into The Bog and then the Grey Marsh. Populated by Halflings, Half-Orcs, Humans, Dwarves, Shifters and a few Dragonborn. This is the poorest region within Ardwen, and one of the most dangerous. Elves are repelled by the area and never go there without a good reason.
Most people who dwell in River’s End make their living as peat boggers. The peat can be used for heat during the winter months, and for constructing huts, so it’s traded throughout Ardwen. Some of the peat bogs also contain a special reddish-purple moss called fireheart moss that contains a small amount of residuum that can be extracted through a refinement process. Some boggers can scrape out a living by trading exclusively in fireheart moss, though it grows in the most challenging and hard to reach places in The Bog. Finally, The Bog region has also been known to turn up the occasional magic item, object or art, precious gems, or even a long-lost artifact from time to time.
Not far from River’s End is the site of the former Shademore Home for Children, an orphanage that burned to the ground over a decade ago.
