Warded Realm

A small realm or kingdom that exists within, and is protected from outside threats by, a large circle of stone obelisks called The Wards. Some of the Lighted Realms are of this type, one such example being the small kingdom of Ardwen. A Warded Realm tends to be a highly secluded region, almost completely insulated from the events, creatures, and perils of the outside world.

Monsters in a Warded Realm
Despite their insulation from external threats and dangers, a Warded Realm may still host a fair number of native threats and dangers within its own borders. These include native monsters. However, by and large, the monsters that dwell within a Warded Realm are:
  • Fewer in number than those outside the realm;
  • Less powerful than those outside the realm;
  • Less visible than those outside the realm, tending to occupy the more remote nooks and crannies of the realm, and for the most part coming out only at night.
There are no armies of monsters, or monster-dominated cities, within a Warded Realm. But there are likely to be small bands of creatures that hide in dank underground caves, deep in the dark heart of the forests, or other unsavory places.
